Sudan Now formally ended in December 2011. The campaign, founded collectively in the summer of 2009 by a group of human rights organizations, challenged the U.S. government to advance the cause of peace in Sudan and South Sudan during some of the most critical moments in their history.

Why Sudan Now?

2011 is an important year for peace in both Sudans. Thanks in large part to your actions, the Obama administration invested heavily in the needed diplomacy for a peaceful referendum for the independence of Southern Sudan, but as we quickly approach South Sudan's independence on July 9, our work is far from over. Violence is on  the rise across the country, from the Nuba Mountains to Abyei to Darfur. Stand with us to demand that the Obama administration impose serious consequences on the Government of Sudan for continuing to brutally attack and displace its own men, women and children. More
